The NARM® Approach

The core of my sessions

What is NARM

Our Deepest Longing and Greatest Fear

You may know the longing to feel deeply connected with yourself, to express yourself freely from that place, and to connect with others.

NARM is based on the understanding that there is a natural movement within all of us towards connection, healing and aliveness. And then there are things that can get in the way. With the NARM approach, we explore exactly this place.

What makes NARM different?

  • Body-oriented and trauma-informed

  • Supports developmental trauma and early relational patterns

  • Not focused on processing the past or fighting symptoms

  • Focused on exploring how protective patterns may limit the present moment and what can emerge beneath them

“The spontaneous movement in all of us is towards connection, health and aliveness. Just as a plant naturally moves towards sunlight, there is an impulse within each of us that moves us towards connection and healing.”

Laurence Heller, founder of NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model)

Patterns are Intelligent Adapatations

Perhaps you know moments when there is something you genuinely want to pursue, yet you can feel that something inside is holding you back. Or situations in which a sense of contraction arises, making it difficult to express yourself freely and fully. You may also notice yourself behaving in a certain way while sensing: this is not quite how I would naturally show up.

These patterns are not mistakes. They are intelligent adaptations of our system that once served an important purpose. Most likely, they helped us preserve connection and belonging. Yet even when they are no longer needed, they can continue to operate in the background and limit our freedom of choice.

The NARM approach is therefore not about getting rid of these patterns. Instead, we explore what you want for yourself today and what may be getting in the way. With curiosity, we explore what and who may emerge beyond these patterns.

Elements of our work

These elements shape our collaboration

Intention

The foundation of our sessions is your heart’s desire: what you deeply long for in your life right now.

Presence

Rather than staying focused on the past, we explore what happens when you come into contact with these patterns in the present moment, and what may begin to shift.

Obstacle

A central question in NARM is: What is getting in the way of your heart’s desire?

Connection

An underlying assumption: beneath our protective patterns lies our authentic self. This means we do not need to become someone different. Rather, the process is about reconnecting.

The Essence Framework

Authentic leadership, to me, is a state and skillset, where mind, heart and body align so that you can lead yourself and others through uncertainty with the highest degree of authenticity, integrity and confidence.

The Essence framework can support you in fully embodying your authentic leadership. These pillars uniquely combine aspects of nonviolent communication, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed facilitation, systemic coaching, embodiment, mindfulness and shadow work.

When all three pillars come together, we call this an authentic leader.

Authentic Communication

Authentic leaders are able to communicate vulnerably and with confidence. They have the capacity to clearly name their emotions & needs and differentiate between moments to share their inner truth and moments to give empathy to others.

This fosters psychological safety and inspires others to bring their whole self, which can

Self-

Awareness

Authentic leaders are aware of their own triggers, patterns, trauma, projections and personal conditioning. Therefore, they are able to take responsibility of their inner world & can swiftly move out of relational dynamics and stay connected to your vision.

This contributes to healthier relationships, trust, growth and improves decision making

Emotional

Mastery

Authentic leaders are capable of dealing with complex emotional situations and can remain connected to their inner balance, while navigating uncertainty. Being able to bring yourself back into center will be a life saving skill to create the impact you deserve.

This contributes to trust in their organizations and teams.

FAQs

What is your approach?

My approach is inspired by a wide spectrum of modalities, such as:

NARM therapy, embodiment, systemic coaching, mindfulness, nonviolent communication, creative expression, trauma-informed facilitation, voice work and movement.

What is NARM?

NARM™ (NeuroAffective Relational Model) is a neuroscience-informed approach for working with developmental trauma and deeply rooted relational patterns. Developed by Dr Laurence Heller, NARM integrates body-oriented psychotherapy, attachment research and contemporary trauma research. Rather than focusing on processing the past, it explores how old patterns may be limiting someone in the present moment and who can emerge when they no longer do.

Note: The support I offer is not psychotherapy as defined by the German Psychotherapists Act and is not a substitute for psychotherapy. If you are experiencing a mental health condition that requires treatment, seeking medical or psychotherapeutic support should be the first step.

What is the difference from traditional talk therapy?

NARM™ differs from traditional talk therapy primarily through its holistic approach. It works not only with what someone thinks or talks about, but also with what is happening in the body, such as tension, breathing and posture. Rather than focusing mainly on the past, it explores what is showing up in the present moment. NARM does not centre on what is wrong or lacking, but on the coherent self that may emerge beneath protective patterns.

Who are your sessions for?

Individuals and couples that want to build healthy relationships with themselves and each other.

What is conscious uncoupling?

Conscious uncoupling is a way of ending a relationship with love and compassion. It is rooted in the understanding that a relationship does not necessarily disappear, but changes its form. From this perspective, it becomes possible to close the chapter of a romantic relationship with care and transition into a new form of connection.

How much do the sessions cost?

I work with a sliding scale. It is important to me that my support is accessible to as many people as possible. The table below offers some guidance. If you are unsure which rate applies to you, feel free to speak to me directly.

The scale is based on a monthly gross income ranging from less than €2,000 to more than €4,000.

What happens in a session?

Individual sessions last 60 minutes, and couples sessions 90 minutes. We begin wherever you are in that moment, whether with a current concern, a feeling or a particular situation. From there, we explore together what may lie beneath it: which patterns emerge, what your body is communicating, and where connection feels easy or more difficult. There is no fixed programme and no homework. You set the pace.

Are the sessions online or in person?

All sessions are online via Zoom
